Volunteer at Rosie’s

Help Us Build What Rosie’s Can Become
Rosie’s BFF’s is growing into more than a farm sanctuary. We’re building a place where animals are safe, families can learn, seniors can visit, people can reconnect with nature, and anyone who needs a little peace can feel welcome.
Caring for more than 150 animals takes a lot of everyday work, but building the future of Rosie’s takes something more: people willing to bring their time, skills, ideas and energy to the table.
We’re building a sanctuary, a community, and a place where animals and people can both feel that they belong.

Yes, You’re Probably Going to Get Dirty
Rosie’s is a working farm sanctuary, not a polished petting zoo.
Expect mud, manure, hay, dust, changing Alberta weather and jobs that sometimes require lifting, carrying, cleaning or working outdoors.
Wear sturdy closed-toe footwear, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and come ready to help. If you have allergies, physical limitations or other concerns, tell us ahead of time so we can find a job that works for you.
The work isn’t always glamorous. The reason behind it always matters.
Sometimes Helping Is Simply Showing Up
He wasn’t looking for recognition or anything in return.
He spent the day helping build walls for animal runs and pounding stakes into the ground for new fence posts — hard, physical work that simply needed to get done.
What stayed with us wasn’t just how much he accomplished,
It was that he saw what we were trying to build and chose to help carry some of the load.
Sometimes community isn’t a huge donation or a grand gesture. Sometimes it’s showing up, getting your hands dirty, and asking, “What can I do?”
Those are the moments that remind us we aren’t building Rosie’s alone.

CompassionatePut the animals' wellbeing first.
Willing to LearnAsk questions and learn how things are done.
Ready to WorkNot afraid of messy or unglamorous jobs.
Takes InitiativeNotice what needs doing instead of always waiting to be told.
Brings Something to the TableSkills, ideas, creativity—or simply the willingness to figure things out.
If you look around and think, “I have an idea,” “I can help with that,” or “What if we tried this?”
You might be exactly the kind of volunteer we’re looking for.
Volunteering Isn’t Just Cuddling Animals
There will absolutely be special moments with the animals.
But most sanctuary work happens behind the scenes:
- feeding
- watering
- cleaning
- poop-scooping
- hauling
- repairing
- organizing
- filling buckets
- maintaining pens and fences
You don’t need to be an animal expert. We can teach skills. Reliability, compassion and willingness to work matter much more.
